Discover Software

Discover provides multiple softwares and packages pre-installed to facilitate user needs.

Most, if not all, packages can be loaded using the module command. If the software is in a location other than /usr/local/other/.., users may need to instantiate the software/package by updating PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables.

Users are recommended to look at all the packages available for use on the Discover cluster by running “module avail” or looking in the following directory:

/usr/local/other

This table contains examples of loading some visual analytics software currently available on the Discover cluster:

SoftwareModule location
IDLRun “module load idl”
ImageMagickSystem Default (alternative module: ImageMagick/7.0.9-16)
GNUPlotSystem Default
MATLABRun “module load matlab”
VisItNo module currently, but there is an installation under: /usr/local/other/visit/3.1.4

MATLAB on the Discover Cluster

Users may use the module utility to enable MATLAB on their Discover environment. Use the instructions on the following page to learn how to load MATLAB into your environment, and learn how to use the MATLAB licenses appropriately.
